About Rhonda....

Rhonda graduated with her BA in Psychology at U.C. Davis, summa cum laude, in 1994, and from the University of Houston with her Master’s in Counseling in 2012. Her interest in children’s issues began during her undergraduate program while working with Dr. Linda Acredelo (Baby Signs: How to talk with your baby before your baby can talk). Rhonda also worked as a peer counselor for substance abuse prevention, assisted with the terminally-ill in a hospice setting, and gained experience in grief counseling.

During her graduate program, Rhonda provided Play Therapy Interventions at a private practice in Katy, volunteered in the children’s center at the Houston Area Women’s Center (HAWC), at Ben Taub Hospital, and at Quentin Meese Hospital.

Rhonda currently works with children who struggle with a variety of issues. She primarily uses techniques in Play Therapy, but also incorporates Theraplay® principles, Expressive Art techniques (sand tray, art, movement, journaling), and parent coaching. Rhonda integrates personal awareness, empowerment, cognitive-behavioral techniques, and client-centered techniques. Rhonda strongly believes that early intervention can result in positive outcomes for children.

Rhonda has two children in college and she enjoys reading, gardening, traveling, and volunteering.
